After years of political instability the Middle East People’s Republic of Basenji, has a chance to break with the tradition of endless wars and head into the bright future with you as the new nation leader. You can choose ministers to help you dealing with parts of the government, while you take care of more challenging aspects. And you will plenty of challenges to face - the country is in ruins, United Nations is providing you with food support so your people would not just starve to death. What is more, your neighbours are not always helping you in good faith, there are partisans, who want to remove you from the office, not to mention the economy needs to be rebuilt from scratch.

Rogue State Revolution is a country simulator, where you are put in charge of small Middle East nation and all you have to do is fight everyone around to stay in power. You ultimately won’t, which is part of the game basic concept. At the beginning you have only handful of people to choose from as your cabinet ministers, but when you lose the game there are points added to your account, which you can use to unlock further candidates. No, that is not a joke, that is the basic concept of the game - you will play this game over and over again to unlock more (perhaps better) candidates.

Apart from that rather unusual mechanic, rest of the game is rather standard and similar to other games of the genre - you set locations for industry, for objects important for the society, you invest into developing new policies, you make some basic trade deals and some basic diplomacy. Other than that you will encounter randomly chosen events that will require your attention.

In general this game is a mixed bag, on one hand you are in charge of the nation that cannot even produce enough food, on the other hand you can try to force liberal policies to a nation on a verge of collapse. Not to mention that for some reason you pay for everything using a cryptocurrency, which makes very little sense. But with story options and additional settings you can find some good bits in Rogue State Revolution.
