Election 1984

Election
(1984, United Kingdom)

Language: English

Spectrum game for single player - you take over the election campaign for one of the parties in Great Britain, but not on the global scale, you have to take care of the basics: 24 streets constituency consisting mostly of suburban housing and a one street that is filled with high-rise residential buildings.

To run the campaign you are given 5000 pounds, which was a substantial sum back in early 1980s, but remember that you have to cover the whole campaign, so use your money wisely. You can spend it on billboards situated on the streets, newspaper advertisement, canvassing the streets or for the polls to see how the situation has changed through your actions. Also you can take part in the public debates that could gain you popularity or more recognition among the voters.

A very simple game with simple rules, but gives an interesting look at the 1980s British politics (when Cold War was still a major theme). While the rules are simple the game manages to be interesting and keep the user uncertain about the outcome of the election, which is the most important part of the real-life politics.
