During Cold War the tension between East and West put the whole world on a verge of global nuclear war, which would most probably end if not the whole civilization then at least destroy most of North America, Europe and Asia. In Balance of Power we take control of one of the sides and through different actions try to win the influence over the world.
The world map is our interface - through that map we can see the influence zones, situation in different countries, ongoing local conflicts, level of tensions, political tendencies and the local involvement of the other side of the conflict. Through the military involvement or financial aid we can support local governments or the local insurgents depending on which would serve our cause better. But as we look for the weak points in the world, where we could get the advantage over our enemy, he does exactly the same, so sooner or later we will have to face the open confrontation - diplomatic and in worst scenario military. While we choose our goals we have to keep in mind that there is constant threat of nuclear holocaust that will destroy both sides...
Geopolitical simulation of diplomatic covert operations of United States and Soviet Union during the Cold War, where instead of open conflict both sides were trying to defeat the enemy through involvement of lesser conflicts around the world to undermine the other side or to gain influence. The game concentrates mainly on military elements, ale gives excellent look on Cold War and how close we were to end of civilization.
